From Denia in the north, down to Torrevieja in the south, vast amounts of funding are being spent to attract investors not just from the UK but also from many other parts of Western Europe.
Although the younger money has always tended to head to the south of the Costa Blanca, where property prices are slightly lower, the gap is narrowing, a sign that investment potential in the north is gaining momentum in line with government spending.
Listed below are a selection of the more popular coastal towns and villages along the Costa Blanca, each with its own unique culture and character.
Denia
Benidorm may have the dubious title of party zone central, but when it comes to Spanish-style celebrations the ' dianenses' as Denia's locals are called, certainly know how to have fun. S ituated at the foot of the majestic Montgó Mountain, Denia is said to celebrate more fiestas than any other town in Spain. Surprisingly contrary to this claim of frivolity, it's also considered to be one of the healthiest places in the world due to its benign climate. |

If this wasn't enough, the town has no less than five, 18-hole golf courses; numerous beautiful sandy beaches; a trove of hidden coves; not to mention first class sailing facilities and other water based activities. The island of Ibiza is visible on a clear day, just a two-hour sail away.
Javea
Just south of Denia, the secluded coves and beautiful bays of Javea were what brought marauding pirates and smugglers to this stretch of coastline in the Middle Ages. Nowadays the visitors are somewhat more peaceful; sunbathers, snorkelers and scuba divers are the main invaders. |

Altea
Just north of Benidorm, Altea is fast becoming the cultural capital of the Costa Blanca. This small hillside village popular with artists and craftsmen houses a fine arts university, impressive new concert hall and many potters' and painters' galleries within its whitewashed labyrinth of alleyways.
Like many coastal villages in popular regions, it's a settlement of two halves; the old quarter sitting sagely above the newer, beachside developments.
Santa Pola
Eighteen kilometres south of the capital of the province, Alicante, lies the fishing port of Santa Pola with an unrivalled culinary reputation for fresh seafood such as prawns and red mullet brought in daily on the picture-postcard fishing boats. |

Torrevieja
It was in the 1980's that visitors began flocking in droves to the Costa Blanca's most southern town. Previously renowned as one of the most productive salt producers in Europe, tourism is the industry that now pays the way for this popular yacht and fishing harbour.
